CLAIM 1

Guitarist on the beach

In relation to the first argument, there are also many other factors that are overlooked pertaining to the effect music has on our brains. For example, while it can stabilize a person mentally, it can also isolate individuals from others; if someone is constantly listening to music and blocking out every person and problem in their life, then their issues will all become bottled up inside, creating many emotional imbalances. I agree with the fact that certain genres can calm people down and create an inner peace, but some factors can be overlooked and forgotten.

CLAIM 2

Boombox Music Player

I agree with the second argument and the idea that there are many different factors that determine a person's music preference. While many external factors can affect these results, as a whole this argument is strong and interesting to see all of the determinants of favored genres. I do think people still need to consider the misleading effects that external factors have on preferences. Similar to your argument, I think a person’s mood changes each and every day, which can lead to results that do not match up with other expected outcomes. Individuals also look for different characteristics and aspects in a song, which also affects our preferences.

CLAIM 3

Live show

While there are many different emotional responses that people develop after listening to different genres of music, as a whole I agree with the third argument in the sense that certain music triggers similar responses within the listener. I think the biggest factor that could make this argument false, are the other external factors, such as opposing personalities or moods, which can alter a person's opinions on certain genres. This argument is similar to the last one in the sense that everyone is different, and one song is not going to have the exact same effect as it did on a different individual.
